  2. The "Our Lady of Tears" sanctuary is one of the most bizarre monuments or churches in all of Sicily. Designed to evoke a gigantic teardrop, the structure was created by two Frenchmen, Michel Arnault and Pierre Parat, in 1994. Sanctuarul „Sfânta Fecioară a Lacrimilor” este una dintre cele mai neobişnuite construcţii sau biserici din toată Sicilia. Forma clădirii vrea să reprezinte o lacrimă gigantică, şi a fost creată în anul 1994 de doi arhitecţi francezi Michel Arnault şi Pierre Parat (ei au proiectat şi Société Générale Twin Towers din La Defense, Paris)

  5. To build the Shrine, as desired by the Bishops of Sicily, an international competition was held. One hundred architects from 17 nations participated. The winners of the competition were two French architects, Michel Andrault and Pierre Parat. Pentru construirea Sanctuarului Sfintei Fecioare a Lacrimilor, conform dorinţei episcopului Siciliei, a avut loc un concurs internaţional la care au participat 17 ţări. Câştigătorii concursului au fost arhitecţii francezi Michel Andrault şi Pierre Parat.

  11. The architects proposed to structurally represent the concept and the sense of the elevation of humanity towards God. In fact, the plan with its circularity represents all of humanity, that little by little -thanks to the rising columns and the increasing light intensity- reaches up to God.
