  12. Critical Error #1: Giving the wrong Speech • Giving the wrong speech does not mean your information is incorrect. It means your words, occasion, and purpose are inconsistent with your audience.

  13. Target your audience Address your occasion Recognize your purpose Here is a strategy to avoid giving the wrong speech.

  14. Identify your audience as early as possible Define jargon Ask these 2 questions: Will the audience understand these points? Will the audience be interested in these points? Anticipate the terms and background information the audience needs to understand the work when you have a single audience.
