Vocational Education for Truck Driver • Professional Truck Driver is a profession fully recognized by the German law for vocational training (“Berufsbildungsgesetz”) • No specializations concerning any focal points or any subject area • Lasts three years within the so-called dual system • Special concepts for vocational retraining can lead to the same certification Professional Driver Training Seminar 29-30 Sep 2005

Job Description • Vocational education is oriented toward a common job description • transport people and goods • working most of their time at the steering wheel • know the traffic laws in Germany and abroad • check the technical equipment of their vehicle before and after using it (includes wheels, engine, braking-systems) • load up their vehicle with goods or the passengers’ luggage • take care that the loaded goods are evenly distributed • check for the required papers • assist in planning the driving route Professional Driver Training Seminar 29-30 Sep 2005
