  2. Why Software Engineering? • Virtually all organizations rely on software for their well-being and indeed their survival. • At the same time, software projects face many challenges: • Software projects are growing larger and served by multiple, geographically separate sources. • Software projects continue to have quality, performance, security and other major problems. • A degree in Software Engineering prepares you to help organizations overcome these challenges.

  3. Why a Master’s Degree? • Many software projects fail because of • Poor project management resulting in projects that are over time, over budget and do not meet the requirements. • Poor requirements analysis resulting in a mismatch between the software and the organization’s needs. • An MS in SWE allows you to acquire the skills and knowledge to help organizations overcome these sources of failure.

  4. Why SPSU? • Quality of the program: • The MS in SWE at SPSU is a genuine master’s degree that builds on and assumes that you have the knowledge and skills normally acquired in an undergraduate degree in computing. • For students who do not meet this requirement, we offer a series of transition courses that allow you to acquire the prerequisite knowledge and skills. • The MS in SWE at SPSU covers the complete spectrum of software engineering activities • The MS in SWR at SPSU has been designed and is continuously improved with input from leaders in the software engineering industry.

  5. Why SPSU? • Quality of instruction • Low faculty-to-student ratios • High quality faculty • Leaders in their fields of specialization as evidenced by impressive publication records • Tend to have relevant industry experience • Are committed to student success.

  6. Why SPSU? • Flexibility • All courses are offered either face-to-face or online and students can choose the delivery method that suits them best. • No matter what delivery mechanism you opt for, you will receive the same high level of instruction and you will be assessed on the same skills and knowledge.

  7. Why SPSU? • Estimated MS degree cost, including books, is roughly: • Notes: • Students can complete the program through a combination of face-to-face and online courses. • These figures are subject to change

  8. Why SPSU? • Employed graduates • Virtually all graduates from the MS SWE either find a good, well-paying position after graduation or see a significant career advancement with their current employer. • Examples of employers of MS SWE graduates:
