Concept A culture review show made by young people for young people. We will be comparing… • Music • Local entertainment venues • Film & TV • Fashion • Video games • Politics & social issues? • Topics we are genuinely interested in – do a brainstorm
Program format A studio-based magazine show where discussion takes place in the studio and VT inserts show us going out into the public asking questions and reviewing venues.
Studio-based content • Mini informal chats/debates deciding which is better • TV shows aimed at teenagers – dramas i.e. Orphan Black vs. Misfits and documentaries TV i.e. Hotel of Mum and Dad & Don’t Tell The Bride • Quickfire Versus – celebrity guest decides their favourite of two things. Similar format to Friday Download(except without kids in studio audience) • Teen Trash – Weekly debate about products aimed at teens that are cool or rubbish. • Grand Theft Auto 5 vs. The Last of Us video games
VT inserts • Local venues – The Forum vs. Trinity theatre for young people with vox-pops asking the public in Tunbridge Wells. • Fashion/make up items i.e. crop tops vs. hot pants – hot or not. • Band performance – filming a band at a different venue and inserting into the footage as though they are actually present. • Alternative Top Ten – Good bands and music we actually like
Presentation style • Chatty and informal • Down-to-earth • Natural chat: loosely scripted but we will just go with it. Example: Loose Women
Roles • Main presenters: Male & female – Freddie and Esme • Panel: Group of people with different opinions on a particular topic who are natural in front of the camera • Celebrity guest: Emily • Writers: Someone with interest in creative script writing • Camera crew/editing: Kelly-Anne and others with previous experience in film production
Example script – Introduction Freddie: Hello, and welcome to Versus, the review show made for teens by teens! We want to find out what we really like, not what the media tells us we like! Esmee: Today we will be chatting to our panel about BBC Three drama – is it smashing or trashing? – as well as comparing the latest autumn trends. Freddie: We’ll also be comparing the local venues in Tunbridge Wells and asking what the public think – The Forum versus The Trinity: what do we think? Esmee: Our panel will be checking out the newest games on the market. Do we like GTA or The Last Of Us? And is it okay that for companies like Sony to make their games PlayStation Exclusive? Freddie: Let me introduce our panel (names) *Panel sitting on coach – applause/cheering inserted?* Esmee: And please welcome our special celebrity guest, actress Ali Lucas.
