  1. LEGIONELLA LABORATORY TESTING

  2. Legionella Laboratory Testing has been increasing a lot in the last few years.

  3. This antimicrobial testing plays a key role in water management industries all over the world.

  4. The reason is it assures water quality as well as safety reducing health risks.

  5. Either you can go for a single legionella laboratory testing method for one organization or the method covering more areas.

  6. Understand the differences between antigen, qPCR, and culture here.

  7. MEASUREMENTS: WHAT IS BEING MEASURED

  8. It makes the best use of Lateral Flow Immunochromatographic Assay (LFICA) technology. It detects and finds out the disease’s antigen using antibodies comprising of red nanoparticles. It is same as pregnancy test and detects only legionella antigen. Hydrosense Test

  9. It is commonly known as Polymerase Chain Reaction test. It is used and applied in molecular biology. PCR Test It helps in finding out and determining the presence as well as quantity of the organism’s DNA in given samples.

  10. Lab Culture Test It separates, isolates, and eventually quantifies culturable cells of this Legionella disease.

  11. RECOVERY RATE FOR LEGIONELLA LABORATORY TESTING METHODS

  12. It has a recovery rate of more than 80%, whereas the culture method has the same of 55%. Hydrosense Test

  13. The recovery rate is 90%, but needs careful investigations to assure risks. PCR Test

  14. This test shows a recovery of 65%. lab Culture Test

  15. SPEED

  16. It is very fast and detection can be done within 25 minutes. Hydrosense Test

  17. It takes 24-48 hours, especially if shipping to the lab is concerned. PCR Test

  18. This testtakes 7-14 days for accurate results. Lab Culture Test

  19. DETECTION of VIABLE BUT NON- CULTURABLE BACTERIA

  20. Legionella enters viable and focuses on survival but remains in the non- culturable state. Hydrosense Test The viable non- culturable bacteria can harm because of its resuscitation to the culturable cells.

  21. Here the bacteria is detected using DNA. PCR Test VNBC bacteria can also be detected.

  22. Lab Culture Test It has no methodology and technique to detect legionella disease in a non-culturable state.

  23. CONCLUSION

  24. Legionella laboratory testing or antimicrobial testing is now taking place at higher levels.

  25. Prior to taking advantage of any method, the health risks and effects need to be considered.
