  10. 1. In a subordinate clause • The subjunctive is used in the subordinate clause (after the conjunction que) when there is a change of subject between the main and subordinate clauses. Ex. La profesoraquierequenosotrosestudiemos mucho para el examen. Mi hermanaprefierequeyohablecon suamiga.

  13. 2. When the antecedent is unknown or nonexistent Unknown: Busco un amigo querespetemissentimientos. Quiero comida queseadulce. Nonexistent: Élesmuysolitarioporque no tiene a nadiequeseasu amigo. Tengohambreporque no tengo comida queseadeliciosa.

  14. 3. When a question is asked about the unknown. When you ask a question about a supposition, or something unknown, use the subjunctive. Ex: ¿Tendréunabuena nota en la clase de español? When you make a positive statement about something known use the indicative. Ex: Tengounabuena nota en la clase de español.

  15. 4. Expressions of feelings in the main clause • If you have feelings in the MAIN clause the subjunctive must be used in the subordinate clause. Ex: Me pone tristequemisestudiantestenganmalasnotas. ¡Me enfuriaque Clara llame a mi novio!

  17. 4. Expressions of feelings in the main clause • If there is no change in the subject, an infinitive is used in the subordinate clause. Ex: Me sorprendeverte en la escuelahoy. • Expressions of face or belief, require the use of the indicative in the subordinate clause Ex: Es verdadquetueres mi amigo.
