  9. Hello, my name is Officer Joe Smith and I am the new School Resource Officer at your school. My job as the School Resource Officer is to foster positive relationships between law enforcement and students through daily interaction and character education. I am also here for staff and faculty, as well as parents, to serve as a resource for concerns. By concentrating on character education and character development through interacting on a regular basis with the students, I hope to make a positive influence on the choices they make both at school and in the home.   13. 4.30.14 BOE Questions • What do other 67 towns with resident troopers do if they don't have an SRO program? • "Other towns has constables, security guards or nothing" • If more than one of our assigned officers is interested in becoming SRO, could they share the responsibility? • What happens when SRO is on vacation, sick, etc ... who covers?
