  2. Summary Henry asks Lenina if she wants to go to a feely with him, and she refuses which causes him to wonder and pick at her about various treatments. “A doctor a day keeps the jim-jams away” She then confides in Fanny that she can’t stop thinking about John. Fanny suggests soma or sleeping around more, but Lenina just won’t hear any of it.

  3. Summary Lenina shows up at John’s in a sailor outfit to seduce him… John thinks it is Helmholtz and is thrown off that it is Lenina instead. She questions him on it and he swears his love for her “so perfect and so peerless are created”, so she leans in for a kiss but he denies her.

  4. Summary John shyly brings up marriage, but Lenina doesn’t understand. He wants to do something like hunt down a lion or something to sweep her off her feet or even marry! Lenina gets confused, there are no lions in England and there are Epsilon Semi-Morons to vaccuums she tells him; and she is annoyed at this marriage idea.

  5. Summary “If thou dost break her virgin knot before all sanctimonious ceremonies may with full and holy rite…” Lenina just gets angry he is talking nonsense; terrible ideas about staying with one person, vacuums, and mountain lions. She simply asks if he likes her, which he responds he loves her, and then she just starts to strip.

  6. Summary John becomes irrationally angry, and starts hitting her ad calling her a whore repeatedly. He also starts quoting more Shakespeare (King Lear). Forcing Lenina to hide in the bathroom. “O thou weed, who are so lovely fair and smell’st so sweet that the sense aches at thee. Was this most goodly book made to write ‘whore’ upon?”
