  11. Summary • This is another turning point in the novel. • The staff for the Park Lane Hospital for the dying was made up of 162 Deltas. They were broken “into two Bokanovsky Groups of eighty-four re-headed female and seventy-eight dark dolychocephalic male twins.” • John, the savage, makes a major scene in this point in the book.

  12. Summary • All of the people are picking up their soma when John comes in. • John tells them to stop taking the soma because all it is doing is making them slaves. • He wants every person there to choose freedom and stop taking the soma.

  13. Summary • The Deputy Sub-Bursar moved into a different room while this was going on. • He called Bernard’s home. Helmholtz answered the phone and told Bernard what the Deputy Sub-Bursar said about John. • They quickly rushed to the hospital.

  14. Summary • At this point, John has become more furious and begins throwing the soma out of the window. • Right as the Deltas begin attacking John, Helmholtz arrives and begins to help John. • They both stay together fighting off Deltas and throwing soma out the window. • Meanwhile, Bernard is unsure whether to help or stay out of it and feels he will be killed either way.

  15. Summary • While the fighting is going on, the police arrive and begin to take everything under control. • They start by spraying soma and anesthetics into the air. • This is happening at the same time as a loud voice begins to talk to everyone.

  16. Summary • It was the “Synthetic Anti-Riot Speech Number Two (Medium Strength).” • Suddenly, the rioting stops and all the Deltas begin hugging, kissing, and saying sorry. • Everyone is given their normal soma rations and everything is now under control.

  17. Summary • The Police ask John and Helmholtz to come quietly without any problems. They do so. • Bernardo tries to escape without anyone knowing. • It doesn’t work and he is caught. End of Chapter 15
