  1. East Midlands Regional Forum Tuesday 10th July 2012 The Brite Centre Leicester

  2. National Forum Update Craig Hart

  3. National Forum Update • We had the last meeting on 10th and 11th March in Walsall. • The Co-chairs told us about PIP. This stands for Personal Independent Payments.

  4. PIP is a new benefit for people with disabilities aged 16-64. It will replace Disability Living Allowance. You will still be able to choose how to spend it. • There will be 2 parts, Daily Living and Mobility. These can be paid at either standard or advance rates. • The change from DLA to PIP will happen sometime between April 2013 and March 2016. People in other regions will change over before us.

  5. Everyone who thinks they should get PIP will have to make a new claim even if they are on DLA now. • We still don’t know the new rules about who can and who can’t get PIP or what help we will have to make a claim.

  6. Amanda told us about the work she was doing with Learning Disability Nurses. • We talked about showing National Forum meetings live on the internet. We will let you know if this happens.

  7. We voted to change the end of our name from ‘learning difficulties’ to learning disabilities’. • We talked about getting more people with complex needs to come to our meetings. Do you have any ideas?

  8. We had a vote for Vice Chairs and for a Health Rep. I won the Vice Chair election. This means I won’t do the Regional Rep job anymore so I won’t come to these meetings anymore. • I have enjoyed being your regional rep and I hope that you think I have done a good job.

  9. We are going to have local reps as well as regional reps. • We need you to vote on the person that you want to represent Northamptonshire. • There are two people standing, if you are a person with a learning difficulty living in Northamptonshire please vote and send the form back to CEPF.
