Welcome • Community Services Department • Specialize in grants and grant management • Divisions working with Texans Feeding Texans • Office of Financial Services • Finance Section will assist with application evaluation • Office of Housing and Community Development • Development Section will administer grant

  4. Texans Feeding Texans • Second year of Grant Program with Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) • Created through HB 407 to assist agencies delivering meals across Texas • Requires County qualifying grant to receive TDA funding

  5. Harris County Grant • Agencies are eligible with a grant in any amount from Harris County • Full TDA grant = $.25 per senior from Harris County grant • Based on Seniors 60-years-old and older in Harris County • 352,000 Seniors in Harris County, according to 2000 Census

  6. Harris County Grant • Grant will be distributed among agencies according to percentage of all hot meals served in Harris County • CSD anticipates higher participation for 2009 grant

  7. Application Materials • Available online after July 29 • Contains five parts • All parts must be completed, including all attachments, for the application to be considered for funding

  8. Part I - Organizational Information • Basic organizational information that provides • Contact information • Financial contact • Business name

  9. Part II – Financial Management Questionnaire • Helps assess overall capacity of organization’s financial management • Accounting System • Financial Capability • Budgetary Controls • Internal Controls • Findings from audit or financial statements

  10. Part III – Service by Zip Code • Requests TOTAL hot meals served by zip code • Use FY 2007 numbers • Helps CSD understand fiscal impact by precinct and where seniors are receiving services in the county • Indicate TOTAL HOT MEALS SERVED • This number is used for percentage determination

  11. Part IV – Board of Directors • Describes the makeup of the organization's governing body

  12. Part V – Attachments • Most recent financial statements and audit • Monitoring report from Harris County Area Agency on Aging (2007) • Notarized documentation of meals served OVER the AAA or Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) contracted amount • Return addressed envelope • Application must include all attachments for consideration

  13. Completed Applications • Include three signed copies of the application • Use only binder clips-no notebooks or binding • All applications are due to the CSD office by Monday, August 25, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. • Read the application fact sheet for instructions
