  2. Because Graduate Students… Need organization and management of research papers … Need user-friendly editing tool for writing and editing Thesis, Papers etc..?

  3. Organization of the Presentation PART: I LEd a user friendly LaTeX Editor PART: II Mendeley Software for managing and collaborating research papers etc.

What is LEd ? • “LaTeX Editor” - an environment for rapid TeX and LaTeX document development • LEdoffers: • a project manager - powerful editor • integrated spellchecker and thesaurus - build-in DVI viewer • descriptive hints for LaTeX commands - code complete mechanism • word wrapping - code folding • Basic package only 6 MB of disk space !

  7. More than 2200 buttons for LaTeX symbols For each button representing a symbol a hint is provided describing the command syntax and, if necessary, which external package should be used In the editor window, hints for symbols contain also a bitmap showing the symbol

  8. Descriptive hints Highlights the contents of the file to ease editing process This reduces the help usage Hints provided for: syntax of the command short description description of the command parameters example of usage remarks (if something special can be said about the command)

  10. Built-in DVI viewer A two-way navigation (you can double click on the previewed page to move to the related place in the source text and also double click in the contents window to show the related page in the viewer).

Other Useful Features Code folding Parts of the source text can be collapsed to one line Parenthesis Coloring Parentheses are colored depending on the nesting level Matched parentheses are highlighted Code completion Supports completion for LaTeX commands Suggested commands hints are also available Labels and bibliographical entries defined in the document are also supported

  12. Lastly… Multi-lingual Dictionary and Thesaurus Can be used with any TeXdistribution (full functionality is available with a distribution based on TeXLive or MiKTeX) Built-in Spellchecker Not only LaTeX / TeX Free to download and use !!

  20. WhatisMendeley? Set up and manage your reference groups Library showing all your documents (citation or table view) Add tags & notes and edit document details Filter your papers by authors, keywords, tags, or publications

Addingyourpapers • You have different options to set up your library: • Add single files or an entire folder • “Watch a folder” to automatically import PDF files • Drag and drop PDFs into Mendeley Desktop … and Mendeley will try to extract the document details automatically • You can also: • Add existing EndNote/BibTeX/RIS databases • Sync with other reference management webapps • Use Mendeley Web Importer to add from online databases • Add from the Mendeley Research Catalog

  23. Web Importer www.mendeley.com/import To install the Web Importer, drag & drop the bookmarklet to your Favorites/Bookmarks in your internet browser Supported sites The Web Importer helps you grab citations off the web

  24. Usingthe Web Importer On the web page with the reference(s) you want to capture: click on the bookmarklet… …then click on “Import” to import the reference/paper to your Mendeley library. If possible/available, also the associated PDF will be imported.

Groups can be private or public (invite only or open) Share references with Mendeley Groups View the group online – other users can request to join or simply follow the activity of the group Public groups only have the reference details – no full text. Private groups contain the full text including notes & annotations.
