  3. FAMILIES + BASKETBALL = OPPORTUNITIES It’s no secret that more and more families are turning to basketball as family entertainment . Let’s harness that trend and use it to create opportunities for boys, girls and families in need in our own backyard. • Families now represent more than 75% of the participants in professional and non-professional basketball events. • Basketball camps for kids and youth are popping up across the country. • Families are looking for new ways to interact, while their kids ache for some fun that will help them build character. • The basketball industry has embraced this growing market and has helped forward movements like this for some time. • These celebrity basketball events have been tremendously successful and sparked a desire for MORE. • This has lead King Bay Kids to create the Inaugural Hoops for Hope Celebrity Charity Basketball Game and Fun Fest. • This event serves as a fabulous day where kids, families, and basketball enthusiasts can celebrate their love for the sport and raise funds for families in their “own backyard”.

FAMILIES + BASKETBALL = HOPE • This year’s event will feature celebrity sports players, Olympians, Para-Olympians, media & industry leaders in business and entertainment. • Celebrity basketball players include actors from Degrassi and many more. • The half-time show will include performances by Divine Brown and “Mayhem’s Finest” – a hip hop dance crew formed by dancers from the hit TV show: ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ Canada. • The day will consist of 3-on-3 tournaments, a three-point shooting contest, incredible raffles, live performances, keynote speakers, face-painting, arts & crafts, barbeque, and delicious treats, along with the main event – the celebrity basketball game. • Event goers can either participate in the tournaments & contests, enjoy live performances, or come and cheer on their favourite ball player. • Adults will be asked to donate a minimum of $10; children under 12 are FREE. • All proceeds from the event will benefit the Sparroway Outreach Programs run by King Bay Kids as well as Sisters of Soul – a new initiative which will fully integrate women into the workforce with dignity.

MORE THAN JUST A BASKETBALL GAME • King Bay Kids is an outreach program to the Metro Housing Area called “Sparroway”, located in the Leslie and Finch area in Toronto, Canada. • 80% of the kids in this community are being raised in a single-family home with that parent being the mother. • There is a higher incidence, for kids in these areas, of being involved with the criminal justice system, teen pregnancies, and an alarming rate of high school drop-outs. • Since 2003, King Bay Kids has been involved in empowering kids in this community to overcome the challenges they face on a daily basis. • Currently King Bay Kids offers a number of programs, including: • Homework clubs – 3x per week, including a hot meal • Character clubs – an opportunity for strong, confident youth to become advocates for Sparroway • Overnight camps – for up to 20 youth, one per year • Christmas parties – hot meals and $50 gift certificates for 30 lucky moms • University & college education subsidies

SISTERS OF SOUL • A new endeavour that fully integrates moms into the workforce with dignity. • Provides them with resume writing service, interview skills, hair and makeup services, job-appropriate clothing, bus fare, baby sitting service, and refurbished cell phones to give them a point of contact and ownership over the entire process.

  14. Our goal is to raise $50,000 to support these incredible programs which will shape strong, confident young boys and girls and empower single moms. A strong family unit is the key to a harmonious community.

  15. PARTICIPANTS & COMMUNITY • Jarvis Collegiate – a high school rich in athletic and entertainment history – will play host to the inaugural event. • With a solid population base, most of which is in the middle and upper income bracket, very conscious, urban and active, this is an ideal location for the event. • With the help of celebrity basketball players, King Ba Kids is reaching out to people across the GTA and surrounding areas through blogs, newsletters, websites, social media, concerts, and PR professionals. • The combination of the celebrity basketball game and a youth-focused charity struck a positive chord with many people. Through an extensive marketing and advertising strategy, King Bay Kids plans to welcome approximately 1,000 participants to our event on Saturday Oct. 16th 2011.
