  9. Homework Variety of oral, written and practical homework tasks throughout the year. Core homework of spelling, reading and maths. Homework will be given on a Monday to be returned on a Friday. No more than 25 mins. Flexible

  10. Homework Guide Homework isn’t just what the school gives You can support your child’s learning through various activities at home: - Baking – supports maths, food hygiene and language. Talk to your child about what they have made and how they made it. - Visiting places – talk about what you can see, link it to other information your child will know. Tell them any interesting facts about where you are. - Time can often be developed outside school – use of sky TV – when programmes are on, how long they are on for. How long until tea time etc. - Playing games as a family to build on social skills, turn taking. - Keeping a weekend diary / orally or written Homework that is given during the week from school is an extension of work in school. Children should be able to complete it independently and to the same standard I would expect in class (handwriting, neatness etc.) Reading - P4-7 should be reading a mixture of: their reading book, newspapers, magazines, comics, a bedtime novel etc. - Question them on the story; what would you do if you were this character? ; how does X feel? how do you know? ; what might happen next? ; did you enjoy the story? Why?
