  1. CPR in writing a research paper Goal: Learn how to follow detailed formatting direction Learn how to read nonfiction text, synthesize and analyze sources critically Learn how to write, revise and present work nonfiction work

  2. First step • C-choose something that interest you • choose topic- Prepare a governing questions, form a hypothesis and narrow the topic.

  3. Second step • P- prepare • Prepare a working bibliography (a works cited list) three books one magazine one online sources (5 sources minimum)

  4. Prepare a thesis and and a rough outline (you can do a PowerPoint outline to get credit for both) PowerPoint and outline

  5. Prepare notes- Read research material and take notes Notes should be taken on index cards. I would like ten index cards minimum. One side should have the notes/ the other side the source you got it from.

  9. Write the first draft and the Works Cited page • Use MLA format • 12 font Times New Romans • Double Space • Create header with last name and page # on top right • Put name, class subject, teacher’s name, class subject on left upper corner after header
