Inventory of Teacher Technology Skills (ITTS) • Tool to gauge teachers’ basic technolgy skills • Currently 60 districts utilizing tool • Form B (alternate form assessing same indicators) will be released October 13th. Florida Innovates School Survey • 25 question survey for principals and technology coordinators • Collects data on types and locations of computers and digital devices for student and teacher use, as well as technology planning and use data. • Survey open October 6 – October 31, 2008. • www.flinnovates.org/survey
Student Tool for Technology Literacy (ST2L) • Tool to evaluate 8th grade students’ technology literacy • Field tested and validated with ~1300 8th graders across the state • Anticipate that the tool will be available to current EETT grant districts September 22, 2008 and statewide September 29, 2008. • http://ST2L.flinnovates.org
Microsoft Settlement • Districts have until June 17, 2010 to redeem their vouchers. • 49 districts have redeemed some or all of their vouchers, 20 districts have not redeemed any of their vouchers. • Funds should be used for the benefit of eligible schools (>50% FRL on 2004 Survey). • http://fmal.info
Florida Digital Educator • Over 800 teachers attended the Teaching and Learning Summer Institutes this past summer. • 30 new Master Digital Educators (MDEs) were added to strengthen the availability of trainers, evaluators, and content creators across the state of Florida. • Dates for next summer’s Teaching & Learning Institutes are being set and will be distributed at the FAEDS/FCITL meeting. • http://etc.usf.edu/fde
Discounted Computers for Students • The State Board of Education (SBE) in accordance with Statute 1001.29 shall develop a rule for implementation of a discounted computer and internet access program for students. • Rule anticipated to be adopted at the October SBE meeting. • State will negotiate prices for computers and internet access for students grades 5-12 who receive training in their district.
