One day, shortly after his 40th birthday, Colston quit his job to work for a nonprofit that provided transportation help to the poor. One day in 1993, Hal Colston was helping a woman who had bought a used car, but its brakes didn’t work. An all-around handyman, Colston, had an idea. Why not repair donated used cars for low-income people? Three years later, he launched the Good News Garage to help people with car troubles. At the Good News Garage, the motto is “donate a car, change a life,” and since 1996, Hal and his team have changed the lives of more than 3,500 people. Before donated cars go back on the road, a mechanic assesses the vehicles and makes repairs. Then, they are sold at a reduced rate to people in need -80 percent of which are single moms. The amount depends on the person’s financial situation. Colston says a car can transform a person’s life almost instantly. “They can get connected with the community.” Colston has done an amazing job. He is an inspiration to all the people around him. He says, “Let’s keep up the good work.” ☞ Choose the best answer based on the article.
