  1. Lesson 17B – Matthew 8–9, Mark 1:23–2:12; 5:21–6:6, Luke 7–8 Miracles

  2. An old saying… • When you are healthy, you have 100 wishes, but when you are sick, you have only 1 wish. • To be healthy • Today we are talking about people who are disabled and come to the Lord. • Each of you have a disability on a card. Imagine this was your disability. • How would your life be different? What would you be unable to do? How would your perspective change?

  3. Mark 1:23-2:12 • These verses contain accounts of people who were disabled in various ways. • Read through and log each miracle. Answer (in the middle column): • What disability afflicted this person? • What miracle did Jesus perform to help the person? • What, if anything, did the person do to aid in the miracle?

  4. Do healings happen today? • Mormon 9:15-19 • “he ceaseth not to be God, and is a God of miracles” • What blessing might be greater than having a physical disability healed? • President Harold B. Lee

  5. Healing of Sick Souls “The greatest miracles I see today are not necessarily the healing of sick bodies, but the greatest miracles I see are the healing of sick souls” (in Conference Report, Apr. 1973, 178; or Ensign, July 1973, 123). • Why would the healing of sick souls be greater than the healing of sick bodies? • Do you believe the Savior has power to heal us from spiritual disabilities? • Mark 2:5-12

  6. Revisit your disability • In what ways could you experience that disability spiritually? • Which version of the disability would you prefer to have healed? Why? • Alma 7:11-13 • “the Son of God suffereth according to the flesh that he might take upon him the sins of his people”

  7. Notebook Ideas • What spiritual disabilities have you experienced in your life? How have you overcome them? • What are the feelings of being healed? How else can we experience those same feelings?
