This week, we explored the critical role of predators in ecosystems and their profound impact on both living and non-living components. Through group discussions, we derived key biological principles related to life on Earth. These principles are supported by facts from our assigned video and additional research. As part of our collaborative assignment, we created outlines for individual essays that serve as an analysis of the concepts discussed. Students are encouraged to reflect on their findings in their journals, emphasizing objective reasoning over personal beliefs.

Predators are only a small part of the ecosystem yet their removal has such devastating effects on the entire system including the non-living parts. Develop several broad biological principals about life on Earth and the Earth itself from the information in the video and our discussions this week. Support your principles with facts from the video and any other knowledge you might have. Quiz each other on alternate interpretations of each of your supporting facts. Work together to develop an outline for an individual essay on the biological principles we uncovered this week and any supporting evidence you have for them.
Homework All - In your Journals: • Write an essay to be pasted in your journal on the biological principles we uncovered this week and any supporting evidence you have for them. Be careful of interjecting “I believe….” or “My reasons are…” Good reasons do not belong to anyone, they simply are. Honors: • In Venezuela the lake caused habitat fragmentation. Research this subject and apply what you learn to suburban areas in the US. Are there similarities to the islands? Are there differences?
