Collegiate Transition Taskforce “Continuing the Commitment after Collegiate Life: From an Alumnae Perspective”
Why CTT? • Soror Butler-McIntyre’s Vision • Retention Issues
Lifetime Commitment As Delta women, we are part of a powerful whole – a sisterhood founded on the abiding principles of leadership and service
Importance of Transitioning Collegiates • Balancing out Alumnae Chapters • Keeping balance between seasoned sorors and younger sorors • Enhance Delta Learning Process • Continue to serve Delta and the Community • Provide knowledge to Alumnae Sorors and the Chapter
Collegiate Fears of Joining An Alumnae Chapter • They will be outnumbered • Dictatorship • They don’t have time to participate • Their ideas will not be entertained • No PARTIES, No STROLLING! • NO FUN!!!
Balance your funds and Budget Seven Jeans: $200 New Phone: $300 Pair of Shoes: $50 - $150 Line Jacket: $150 - $400 1 Tall Starbucks Latte (every day) - $1408/year DELTA DUES: an avg. of $200/year So, They Can’t Afford To Be Financial, Huh???
Benefits of Being Financial • It feels good to remain connected with the Sorority • Ability to participate in bringing more people into Delta (Membership Intake…through an alumnae chapter of course!) • Ability to write a letter of recommendation for one pursuing Delta membership
The Transitioning Process • Research the Area Alumnae Chapters • Join one that you know you will thrive most in • Be sure to pay your dues to the Alumnae Chapter you plan to join OR • If you are unsure, you can pay your dues to your chapter and then you can have them transferred over to any alumnae chapter • Be the BEST Delta that you can be!!!
CTT’s Role in Transitioning • Chapter Locator • Collegiate members can now search for chapters in the location where they anticipate living after graduation • Allows Collegiate Members the opportunity to make contact with the alumnae chapter prior to moving to the area • Will also provide a very important opportunity for collegiate members to begin building their support system in anticipated new city
CTT’s Role in Transitioning • Collegiate Registry • Appears on Collegiate Link of National Website • Collegiate members are to input their anticipated post-graduation location into the online registry • After registration, registrant will be given the contact information for an alumnae chapter(s) in the specified area • This process will also assist CTT in keeping track of how many collegiate members are graduating
Alumnae Sorors’ Role in Transitioning • Be Familiar with Chapter Locator and Collegiate Registry • Reach out to Collegiate Sorors • Partner with Collegiate Chapters in your area so they can become familiar with your chapter • Reach out to Collegiate Sorors that visit your chapter
