  4. So… why are you here? To WARN YOU!

  5. Well, can you warn me later? I’ve got all this Math and Writing homework to do… Math? Writing? Who do you think invented these?

  6. I don’t know, and why should I care? Things from the past are over, why should I bother with them? Foolish child! This is precisely why I came to warn you.

  7. Fine then, what are you so worked up about? Hey, you look like my PE teacher… This year you have a precious chance to learn about Ancient Civilisations like my own. Do not waste it!!

  8. Huh? How did you know what I’m studying? I read your Social Studies textbook.

  9. Just because you look scary doesn’t mean you can touch my stuff! Very well, my child. But will you heed my warning?

  10. I don’t even know who you are. Where are you from again? I represent the ancient Wise Men of Sumeria! Huh? Sounds like “some area” I’ve never heard of! Hehheh.

  11. It is not wise to mock that of which you know so little! We were the first to build mighty cities out of the mud! We invented writing and mathematics! Made the first maps! Laws! Schools! Everything in your modern world finds its roots in our genius.

  12. Okay… that’s nice. But so what? We have computers and other high-tech stuff now. Which is easier to invent? A computer, or Writing itself? A car, or the first Wheel?

  13. All right, you guys were smart…hey, I’m smart too you know. You merely passed a few tests. Our work has stood the test of time – over 5000 years! Will YOU make anything which will last that long?

  14. You’re right I guess… I owe a lot to you Sumerians. Not just to us, but to the many great civilisations which came after. Even your name, ‘Diana’, is of Greek origin.

  15. But if your people were so great, how come I’ve never heard of Sumeria? Because after centuries, our crops failed and enemies conquered us. Our great cities crumbled back into the dust… Eventually the world forgot that we had ever been.

  16. That’s so tragic! Don’t you feel sad? Everything that begins will end. But our knowledge lives on in you. Today the earth we left to you is in deep trouble. Our genius allowed us to thrive in a harsh land. You must use your minds to find ways to heal this planet…

  17. *YAWN* I’ll remember that when I wake up… I’m sure this was all just a dream right? Then my work here is done. May you become wise, like the Ancients who watch over you… Hey wait! Can’t you help me with my Math first?
