Seminars / Workshops Organized By The Department Year 2002 • 3 Days Orientation Courses for Anganwadi Workers and School Teachers in Collaboration with Young’s India Social Welfare Organization In January 2002. • 3-Days Orientation Courses On Early Childhood Care And Education For Teachers Of Tiger Nursery School, SatwariCantt On 10-12th January 2002. • Seminar on “Children In Difficult Circumstances” On 18-19th Feb, 2002. Year 2003 • An Interactive Session On The Theme “Schooling In The Early Care Of Life” On 10th May, 2003. The Vice Chancellor presided over the proceedings • Four Sessions Of Task Force Constituted By The Hon’ble V.C. For Recommendations On Improvement In Quality Of Education In Schools Of Jammu Held In May- June, 2003. • A One Day Seminar Cum Interaction Programme On The Theme Water The Elixir Of Life In Collaboration With WWF-Nature India On 12th Sept. 2003. • “Meena Day” celebrated on 23rd September 2003 In Collaboration With Young’s India Social Welfare Organization.

Year 2004 • Five Teacher Empowerment Workshops For Teachers Of Reputed Schools Namely, Presentation Convent, K.C Public School, Lawrence Public School In March 2004 • A Two Day State Level Seminar On Role Of Voluntary Organization Of Jammu And Kashmir In The Development Of Women And Children In Collaboration With NIPCCD From 29th-30 Sept. 2004. • NSS Day Celebrated On 25th Sept.2004. Year 2005-06 • An Extension Lecture ‘Earthquake: A Wakeup Warning And Preparedness”, by Prof. G.M.Bhat P.G.Department Of Geology, University Of Jammu On 3rd May, 2006. • A Guest Lecture On “Monitoring And Evaluation” By Mr.MahimJitender, On 19th May, 2006 • A Parent-Teacher Interaction Workshop For Parents Of Departmental Nursery School On 12 May, 2006. • Seven Interdisciplinary Guest Lectures During Dec. 2005-April, 2006. • A Course On Early Childhood Development Run For MJSS Students During Session 2006.

Jan-May 2007 • In Collaboration With ITCO A 3 days Entrepreneurship Development Workshop From 1st To 3rd Feb., 2007.The Workshop Was Attended By Students, Scholars And Faculty Members From The Department. • A Series Of Interaction On “Personality Development” For MJSS Students During April, 2007 By Prof.Rita Jitendra • Mr.Mahim Jitendra Delivered Lectures On “Monitoring And Evaluation” During April-June, 2007. • Dr.J.P.S.Joorel Undertook Series Of Lectures On “Statistics” In May, 2007 As Part Of Inter Departmental Exchange.

June 2007-Dec. 2007 • A Parental Empowerment Programme For Parents Of Departmental Nursery School On 4th June 2007. • A Panel Discussion On The Theme “Role Of Media In The Portrayal Of The Disabled On 5th June , 2007.Media Personalities Were Invited On The Occasion. • Industry-Student Interface On 7th June, 2007 Where The Branch Head, HDFC Bank Was The Special Invitee. • A 10 Day Training Workshop On “Soft Toy Making” In The Month Of October, 2007 For The MJSS Students In Collaborating With “Sahara” A NGO For Women’s Empowerment. • A Month Long “Computer Literacy And Training For MJSS Students At DOEACC Centre From Sept.-Oct. 2007. Jan 2008-Dec. 2008. • Centre For Early Childhood Development(CECD) Inaugurated On 5th Feb. 2008 By The Minister For Social Welfare, J&K Govt. • A Series Of Interdisciplinary Lectures On Economic Evaluation And Statistical Methods In May-June 2008 For Master’s Students. • Students Of IVth Semester Presented A Series Of Seminar On Current Trends And Issues In Human Development During May-June 2008.

Centre For Early Childhood Development a) Nursery School & Day Care Center • Already functional(since 1997) • Capacity Of 50 Children Aged 6 Months To 5 Years • Foundations For Wholesome Personality Development • New Nursery School Building Inaugurated In Feb’2008 Comprising Of A Multi-activity Hall, Academic Room, Toy Room, Sleeping Room & Outdoor Play Area. • Environment Friendly Fiber Based Furniture Being Used b) Documentation Centre • Planned to be developed as Nodal Centre For Research & Statistics On Children In J&K c) Child Rights Cell • To Undertake Activities For Advocacy Of Child Rights d) Child & Family Guidance Cell • Guidance To Normal & Special Children & Their Families
