    2. WHAT IS SILICON VALLEY VILLAGE? A self-governing, membership driven, non-profit organization run by small staffs and volunteers working together to build a welcoming community, provide social supports, and coordinate affordable services, including transportation, in-home medical care, home repairs, and other day-to-day needs for people wishing to remain in their homes as they age.

    4. WHY SILICON VALLEY VILLAGE? We are part of an aging generation that wants to be able to choose where and how to live as we age. Staying in ones home is a high priority. People want to remain active and keep involved in their home life and medical care. Services are available, but fractured, unmonitored, not comprehensive, and not always community based.

EXTENSIVE AND ONGOING SERVICES TO ASSIST WITH DAILY LIVING Transportation Home Maintenance and Home Safety Hands on Care Health and Wellness Financial, Legal, and Estate Assistance Assistance with Electronics and PCs Social, Cultural, and Educational activities Volunteering, and Community Opportunities

    6. SILICON VALLEY VILLAGE SERVICE AREAS Initially: Los Gatos, Saratoga, Monte Sereno, Campbell, part of West San Jose. Long term: TBD Hub and Spoke model central organization supports separate spokes in other participation areas.

    8. WHAT IS THE COMPOSITION OF A VILLAGE? Non-Profit Corporation Volunteer Officers and Directors Small paid staff Program and Committee Volunteers Membership based Annual Fee Funded by Fees, Donations, and Grants

    9. WE ARE NOT INVENTING A NEW WHEEL 29 Villages in California 8 open and 21 in development. 50 operating Villages in the US with 120 more in various stages of development. Existing models for organization and structure.
