  1. Glenn Turner Believes Virat Kohli Will Struggle in WTC Final If Conditions Favour Seam And Swing Former New Zealand captain Glenn Turner has said that India batsmen including Virat Kohli could be seen struggling if the condition of the ICC World Test Championship are seam and swing friendly. Notably, India will face New Zealand in the much-anticipated summit clash starting June 18 in Southampton. Turner’s prediction came in place after seeing India’s struggle during their tour of New Zealand in January 2020 when in two Tests, India were thrashed 2-0 by the Kiwis. And, Kohli couldn’t score a fifty as well. “I don’t wish to speculate on whether Kohli’s reflexes have deteriorated. But if the pitch and overall conditions favour seam and swing, he is also likely to struggle along with others as was demonstrated in New Zealand,” Turner, a former New Zealand selector, told The Telegraph. “Once again, conditions are going to be pivotal,” Turner said. “I think it is true to say that the home conditions, where batsmen are brought up, play a significant part in the technique and skills of a player.” Image Source by twitter

  2. On the other hand, the former great believed that even if conditions in India, which are more batting friendly and sometime favours pace bowling, that can’t be compared to New Zealand. Moreover, New Zealand have got good match practice as they are currently taking on England in a two-match Test series whereas India wouldn’t get any practice game before the final. While they had last played a Test earlier this year against England, the will play against the same opponent in a five-match Tests series after the WTC final as well. Image Source by twitter

  3. “Although it seems that in more recent times, pitches in India can assist seam bowling, they still can’t be compared to conditions in New Zealand. This was exposed when India last toured New Zealand. English conditions are generally closer to those in New Zealand,” he concluded.
