  4. Patients tell their story Mr. Graves lost his left leg last August as a consequence of a chronic ulcer. This is the first time he’ll be using a prosthesis and is looking forward to walking without crutches. He was especially impressed with efficient service he received.

  5. Ms. Yvette Williams lost leg last year April as a consequence of what had appeared to be a minor toe injury. Ms. Williams, who is used to being up and about was especially pleased with her new leg. In fact, almost immediately she was able to walk without clutches and without assistance. Dave Mahler commented: “ Some persons need at least 6 months of therapy in order to walk like that.”

  6. Mr. Irie James lost his leg in March of last year. While Mr. James was applying chemical fertilizer to his plants some years ago, some of it got into contact with his ankle. He sought medical assistance and nursed a small wound for a number of years. Despite his efforts the wound deteriorated and an x – ray revealed the foot could no longer be saved. Standing all on his own with his new ‘leg’ Mr. James is grateful for his gift of hope. He emotionally disclosed: “I just want to walk, to do something for myself…maybe a little kitchen garden near my home”.

  7. About three years ago Mrs. Regina Nyack, was receiving medical care for a wound that had developed on her right leg. However, because the wound was not being properly dried, infection soon set in and eventually she lost the leg. A friend of the family heard the clinic being advertised on the radio and her son’s quick response led to her receiving a new ‘leg’. Mrs. Nyack is now looking forward to ‘walking’ on her own again.

  8. Mr. George MacMillan lost his leg five years ago when he sustained an injury to left toe. This occurred while he was working on his banana plantation. Being diabetic he sought medical attention right away. Despite this though, one and a half weeks after entering the hospital, he had to have the leg removed. He is very thankful for the help he has received. He now looks forward with renewed spirit, to a life of greater independence.
