Writing 1 OBJ By the end of the semester, students should: • Be able to write with high accuracy (grammatically correct, with accurate punctuation, conjunctions, and appropriate vocabulary); • Be able to write a range of basic genres: postcards, descriptions, informal and formal letters, procedurals; • Be aware of the differences between spoken and written, formal and informal language; • Be accustomed to the process of writing; and • Be able to edit their own writing pieces.

Writing 2 OBJ By the end of the semester, students should: • Be able to write with high accuracy (grammatically correct, with accurate punctuation, conjunction, and appropriate vocabulary); • Be able to write unified, well-developed and coherent paragraphs; • Be familiar with a range of basic genres: narration, informal and formal letters of different types; • Be aware of the differences between formal and informal language; • Be able to revise, edit and give feedback to their own and others’ writing pieces.

Writing 3 OBJ By the end of the semester, the students should have: • Been able to write well-unified paragraphs. • Learned and practiced different types of paragraph development such as compare and contrast, cause and effect, exemplification, process, classification, definition and argument. • Developed their autonomy in the writing process, i.e. be able to plan, write, and • Revised their own work as well as giving feedback to their peers.

Writing 4 OBJ By the end of the semester, the students should: • Be able to write well-unified and coherent essays. • Be familiar with different patterns of essay organization such as process, compare and contrast, cause and effect, and argument. • Be able to produce different pieces of writing with appropriate register (i.e. formal or informal) • Have developed their autonomy in the writing process, i.e. be able to plan, write, and revise their own work as well as giving feedback to their peers.

Writing 5 OBJ By the end of this school year, students should have: • Developed their practical writing skills to an advanced level; • Developed their academic writing skills; • Been able to write various genres for academic purposes, including review, critique, summary and report; • Become familiar with thesis writing- its key features and skills; • Developed their skills of planning, drafting, revising, editing their own writing and giving feedback to others’ writing pieces. • Enhanced their background knowledge and critical thinking; and • Been more familiar with the format of IELTS test- writing component.
