  1. Mechanic May 15th, 2013 2nd Hour Career Technology

  2. Mechanic • Do you like working with cars and machines? • The reason I got interested in this career is simply I want to follow in my father’s footsteps. I want to grow up and be a mechanic. • “I invented Nothing new. I simply assembled the discoveries of other men behind whom we’re centuries of work. Progress happens when all of the factors that make for it are ready and then it is inventible.” - Henry Ford

  3. Responsibilities • Sometimes, A problem with a car is obvious, like a blown muffler, oil change is needed and a window button needs to be fixed. Other times, you need to dig in all over the car to find out what the problem is. • Repairs that mechanics commonly make can include removing and replacing old or broken parts such as pistons and rods in the engine, rebuilding faulty assemblies such as steering systems, repairing or replacing brakes and repairing heating, cooling and electrical systems. • Other times, It can be a easy fix. Rotating tires, changing the oil, or fixing the radio. It is called, “Routine Maintenance.” • Although sometimes people think mechanic’s sit in a shop all day and fix car’s, you still have to deal with people. Mean and nice people, people who think they know everything. And then you get the girl who doesn’t know a thing about cars. • Mechanics also get special repairs to work on. Some take longer than others. It includes, Front end work, brake repairs, and easy stuff like, transmission and air-conditioning.

  4. Working Conditions • It could be physical and mental. Doing the math in your head and then putting the parts in the correct place. • It depends on what place your working at. It could be working outdoor and indoor. • You could work 12 hours if you work at ford. You could work 6 hours if you work at a repair shop. It just all depends were you work.

  5. Schooling • I know you have to go to college and get your bachelors degree. • You also need to be in high school and graduate with a 3.5 or higher.

  6. Career Openings • My dad works for ford. So when I get out of college, I’ll look for something with ford and/or trucks and cars in general. • The money my dad gets a year is around $50,000. So if I go into engineering, I’ll be just like my dad.

  7. Life-Style Goals • To graduate from the University Of Michigan. • To Graduate with a 3.5 or higher. • To earn enough and higher to support my family. (And Myself) • My first spending of my earnings will be something for my family. (House, Car, Pool etc.)

  8. Backup Plan • I want to be a professional Athlete, either a baseball or football player. • All outdoors and lots of Money. • Not a lot of responsibilities. Just working out and being conditioned.

  9. The Feels • I feel like I’d love to work with my dad and work with cars and trucks. It’d make my life.
