  3. The Library BEFORE ‘Pencho Slaveykov’ Public Library in Varna has been established in the year 1883. The Library has been a depositary of Bulgarian national literature since 1945. NOW • 830 000 items of library documents • 100 000 visits • 220 000 library documents in circulation per year

The Library – Educational Center We believe that in the 21st century the Library future is to develop as and to become one modern educational and information center, a place for recreation, informal meetings and social sharing. Some of the taught subjects are: • How to use new technologies • Raising awareness of public programmes • Collections and services of special interests and hobbies

  7. The Activities:The Annual Marathon of Reading People It is a part of the international “International Book Day” and is traditional for Varna Public Library and on the occasion of 23rd of April. Our Marathon has become a national event since the year 2007. Young people and seniors are reading favorite books at different places all over the town.

  8. The Activities:Exhibition “Easter – coloured eggs, sweet Easter cakes” It was organized in cooperation with the Pension Association 2004 - Varna. The seniors are sharing their knowledge and skills with our generation.

  9. The Activities:Varna Local History Workers Society The Library is a host of the monthly meetings of the members of the society. We give them the opportunity to meet their interests and provide some materials to satisfy their needs. They exchange ideas, intentions, thoughts, points of view and devote their works to the younger generations.

  10. The Activities:Workshop “Computer and information skills for beginners” The subject of the first day work was "How does the computer work and what we have to know about it". The participants have learned the elements of the computer system and how to create an e-document.

  11. The Activities:Workshop “Computer and information skills for beginners” The second day theme was "Internet - how to search information”.

  12. The Activities:Workshop “Computer and information skills for beginners” The third day - "E-mail and Internet communication".

  13. The Activities:Workshop “Computer and information skills for beginners” All the participants were very satisfied and eager to take part again.

  14. The Future: We believe The Library is the useful, skillful and clever moderator that speaks intelligible language to translate and transfer knowledge between generations. Thank you very much for your kindness
