  1. If I have to write one more paragraph, I’m gonna scream! How to write a conclusion and get this dang paper over with!

  2. Conclusion checklist: • Does your concluding paragraph sum up your essay, perhaps by reinforcing the main points? • Does it do more than just repeat the introduction’s wording? • Does it avoid introducing new points? • Does it avoid apologies? • Does it end succinctly but powerfully?

  3. Don’t: • Waste time repeating sentences from your introduction in different words. That’s silly and boring. • Don’t apologize or undercut your credibility or thos of the sources you cite (“Of course, I am not an expert” “We may never know” “That is just one person’s opinion”)

  4. Ways to conclude: • Predicition • Warning • Recommendation for action (probably not a good idea for this first six weeks paper) • Quotation • Pose a rhetorical question • State how you plan to further your research for the next paper <<This one is a GREAT idea for your papers this six weeks!

  5. Punctuation for Citations • Ms. Shasteen said in lecture, “Justin Bieber should set himself on fire and jump in front of a bus,” (Shasteen).Ms. Shasteen said in lecture that Justin Bieber should kill himself by setting himself on fire and jumping in front of a bus (Shasteen).
