GOAL • To improve the coverage and quality of the services provided under the Child Survival and Safe Motherhood Programme and to ensure effective implementation of the additional components as envisaged with R.C.H. Programme through life cycle approach as per the recommendations of the ICPD conference held at Cairo in 1994 and thus to develop a Model Reproductive and Child Health programme in Pune district.

  4. RCH INTERVENTION PROGRAMME FOR UNORGANISED SECTOR • 2 MIGRATORY POCKET comprising of 101 Brick Klins of • Thergaon, • Wakad Total Population covered 3826 ( 2004)

IMPORTANT DEFICIENCY IDENTIFIED in project area -2003 • High rates of school drop outs in 4th, 7th and 10th Grade. • Prevalence of family planning operation commonly after 3 – 4 children. • Awareness of Leprosy/ T.B. needed as patients are observed as careless and discontinue medicine • 40 + health care counseling and services not present. • Marriage below 18 prevalent • AIDS Awareness and Adolescent health awareness very much needed. • Eligible couple needs more counseling in the usage of family planning methods • Common ailments found among migratory pockets of Wakad and Thergaon – Respiratory Tract infection and skin related problem , musculo-skeletal problems

KAP SURVEY RECOMMENDATIONSCONDUCTED BY KARVE INSTITUTE • Improving antenatal care\ knowledge about safe MTP\ Early registration of ANC/Immunization • Awareness on 40 + Care for men & Women to be improved • Awareness about women counseling and need • Male Participation in women health & immunization • Awareness about HIV & AIDS, STD\RTI to be increased among women • Need to do work in the field of School dropout \ Girl education.

  15. WORKSHOPS/ SENSITIZATION MEETING • ANM workshop (YCMH), were present 80 health officials of PCMC were sensitized on MDRCH • one day workshop was organised for ICDS, 62 members of ICDS were sensitized on MDRCH

COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION IN MDRCH • Training programmes were conducted for household planning,area mapping and on six demand generation activities. • In total1826 community personnel’s were trained in 6 demand generation- • Ramnagar– 152 • Anandnagar- 552 • Dalvinagar- 231 • Gandhingar- 264 • Dattanagar- 212 • Indiranagar- 207 • Vidhyanagar – 208

PARIVARTAKS TRAINING PROGRAMME • 1826 community personnel trained on six demand generation • 186 parivartaks have been identified for household planning. • These parivartaks were engaged in household planning for 100% ANC registration and, Immunization drive,education on 100% registration of birth and death and identification of local health problems.

  25. HEALTH SERVICES SESSION • Regular Participation in Health Services Sessions conducted by PCMC Hospitals • Regular House to House visits are conducted by our medical social worker for sensitizing the community about the project and its components.

ADOLESCENT HEALTH EDUCATION • Regular Health Education classes were conducted for imparting family life education and sex education to adolescent girls and boys. • Total 1862 school going and 510 drop out adolescent girls and boys were identified . • 404 adolescent Parivartaks were trained from all the areas.

  29. HEALTH CLINIC • Adolescent health camp was conducted at Gandhinagar were 79 Adolescent girls were assessed for Hb estimation and Nutritional.

VOCATIONAL TRAINING • Objective: Vocational training and empowerment • Inter-sectorial coordination with Rotary Club, Pimpri - donated 4 sewing machine. • Beneficiary: 30 adolescent girls of Anandnagar & Dalvinagar. • Scheme: 6 months course in a batch of 10 girls each. The machine were gifted to 4 successful girls • 5 adolescent girls earning from tailoring in both these area

  31. Programmes on Gender • “Mulgi Zali Ho” - Street play in coordination with ICDS. • Puppet Shows on 13.09.2004 on Gender Discrimination, Personal Hygiene & food and nutrition. • “Sakuchi Lagin” drama by adolescent CBO’s in Dalvinagar • Rangoli & Painting competition for adolescent girls.

SLUM HEALTH COMMITTEE • Established S.H .C in Gandhinagar, Vidhyanagar, Dalvinagar, Indiranagar.Kalakhadak • It is an innovative effort to monitor, evaluate, plan and solve health problems at the grassroots level. • It consists of local leaders, corporators, mahila mandal members, tarun mandal members • Parivartak PCMC health department members. President, Vice president, secretary, treasurer are elected for a period of six months. • All the proceedings of the S.H.C is being regularly conducted monthly and various issues discussed on immunization, ANC registration and monitoring diseases like T.B, AIDS and cleanliness. • To make the committee sustainable it has been attached to PCMC under II phase of RCH.

WOMEN EMPOWERMENT • In Dalvinagar 3 Bachat Ghats were formed under MDRCH project during Comprising (42 women) • Women counseling centre in coordination with Swadhar has been initiated in all the areas.Legal advice and issues of domestic violence – briefed by experts • During WE programmes, 9 Bachat Ghats were strengthened out of the 17 bachat Ghat in the area.

  39. Distribution of Dresses • Objective: To develop educational environment, continuity in education • Beneficiary: 400 children of Anganwadi (3 to 6 years) Anandnagar, Ramnagar • Inter-sectorial coordination: dresses distributed by Rotary Club, Pimpri

  47. 40+ HEALTH CARE • FREE HEALTH CHECKUP CAMPS WERE CONDUCTED FOR 40+ MEN & WOMEN • THERGAON • WAKAD • 175 patients were screened for Cancer,Cataract, TB, Blood Pressure. • These patients were referred to Talera and YCMH for further treatment.

RCH SERVICES AT DOOR STEP FOR MIGRATORY WORKERS OF BRICK KLIN • RCH Services provided in the unorganised sector of brick kiln through mobile clinics provided by Lokmanya. •  Mobile Health services were provided regularly every Tuesday & Thursday. • 1586 patients have been treated with homeopathic Medicine. • Patients with major ailments were referred to Kivnsara Patil Hospital (PCMC)
