  1. Energetic of Lithuania Vilnius “Židinio” Secondary School for Adults Vilnius, 2011

  2. Electricity demand growth in Lithuania, TWh

  3. There are 4 types of power stations in Lithuania: • Fossil-fuel power station • Hydroelectric station • Pumped-storage hydroelectricity • Nuclear power station

  4. Stages of a fossil-fuel power Station

  5. The types of fuel used in Fossil-fuel power station generally are: • fossil fuels ( coal, oil, natural gas or oil shale) • municipal and industrialwaste • peat • biofuel

  6. Fossil-fuel power station types in Lithuania • condensing power station • thermoelectric power station

  7. The firstfossil-fuel power station was build in Klaipėda, 1929

  8. Lithuania Power station in Elektrėnai

  9. The thermoelectric power station in Vilnius started it’s work on 1951.

  10. Hydroelectricity

  11. Kaunas hydroelectric power station was started to build in 1955

  12. Pumped-storage hydroelectricity

  13. Kruonių pumped-storage hydroelectricity

  14. Nuclear power station

  15. Ignalina nuclear power station was being built in 1974

  16. The geographical place of Ignalina nuclear power station

  17. Ecology The nuclear power station is set up on the coast of the lake Drūkšiai The reactor of Ignalina nuclear power station needs being cooled all the time (because of the chemical reactions in it). So the water of the lake Drūkšiai helps to fulfill this task. That’s why the temperature of the water in the lake is higher than it used to be before the nuclear station was set up there. The water does not freeze in winter. The flora and fauna of the lake changed a little bit.

  18. It doesn’t pollute the environment with CO2 gases; The cost of fuel that you need for the electric energy is not big; The fuel for that kind of energy is found in politically stable countries, you can stockpile them for longer use; It encourages scientific progress; There are relatively little waste; Little operational expenses; The possibility to produce electrical and thermal energy. Advantages of the nuclear energy:

  19. Shutdown

  20. Electricity generation changes

  21. International electricity

  22. Thank you for attention
