  1. Mla Format Jean Lin Ms. Kasababian Language Arts Honors 30 November 2012 Abortion In 2008, twelve women taking resident in the U.S. died due to legal abortions performed during the second or third trimesters of pregnancy. Abortion should be available to all females living in the United States, but must be a legal citizen to have late abortions, which are during the second or third trimesters of pregnancy. Abortion is a right that women have, and the Fourth Amendment "Search and Seizure" supports it. Fewer women will exercise abortion if it is kept legal in the U.S. Late abortions are dangerous, so only legal citizens of the U.S. may have second or third trimester abortions. In the 1820's, various ideas against abortions began...show more content... Many CPCs (Crisis Pregnancy Centers) mislead women into thinking that abortions cause breast cancer, that birth–control pills cause abortions, and that abortion can lead to sterility. CPCs do anything to talk a woman out of having a legal abortion. Late abortions are performed during the second or third trimesters. A method of late abortion is a saline injection. This is when a needle is inserted into the uterus through the ...Get more content on HelpWriting.Net...

  2. MLA Review Essay MLA Review Part 1: MLA In–text Citations – Rewrite the last line of each quote with a correctly formatted MLA in–text citation. 1. "One of his eyes resembled that of a vulture–a pale blue eye, with a film over it. Whenever it fell upon me, my blood ran cold; and so by degrees–very gradually–I made up my mind to take the life of the old man, and thus rid myself of the eye forever." This is from the text book, Great Writing, which was edited by Harvey S. Wiener and Nora Eisenberg. It comes from the first page of the short story by Edgar Allan Poe called The Tell–Tale Heart. The story starts on page 108 and ends on page 111. The book was published by Mc Graw Hill in Boston in the year 2009. "Whenever it fell upon me, my blood ran...show more content... 4. Essay about The History of Computers The first ever computer was invented in the 1820s by Charlse Babbage. However the first electronic digital computer were developed between 1940 and 1945 in the United States and in the United Kingdom. They were gigantic, originally the size of a large room, and also need to be supply a large amount of power source which is equivalent as several hundred modern personal computers. The history of computer hardware covers the developments from simple devices to aid calculation, to mechanical calculators, punched card data processing and on to modern stored program computers. The tools or mechanical tool used to help in calculation are called calculators while the machine operator that help in calculations is called computer. At first the...show more content... The key period of the evolution of modern electronic computer is in between the late 1930s and the early 1950s. Not all of them were invented by the mathematician or physician. Among those machines were pioneering computers put together by english academics notably Manchester/Ferrenti Mark 1, built at Manchester University by Frederic Williams and Thomas Kilburn. And the EDSAC, Electronic Delay Storage Automatic Calculator built by Maurice Wilkes at Cambridge University. The microelectronic revolution started when they were using the vacuum tubes it consume a lot of power supply. As a comparison the ENIAC used about 2000 times as much electricity as the modern laptop. Not just that, the modern term for a problem that holds up a computer program is a "bug". Popular legend has it that this word entered the vocabulary of computer programmers sometimes in the 1950s when moths, attracted by the glowing lights of vacuum tubes, flew inside machines and caused a short circuit. In order to create more advance computer, would have needed hundreds of thousands or even millions of tubes, which would have been ...Get more content on HelpWriting.Net...

  5. MLA Title Analysis I finally finished reading the chapters from the MLA Handbook that were assigned for this week. From the chapter about Titles of Sources, I learned that if I want to use the title of the source in my writing, I should take the title from the authoritative location in the work. An exception to this rule is unusual typography, such as standardization of capitalization and subtitle punctuation. According to the chapter, capitalization is allowed for all principal words, such as nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs and subordinating conjunctions. However, some of the words cannot be capitalized. For example, articles, prepositions, conjunctions and infinitives when they fall in the middle of a title. If the source is self–contained and independent the title should be italicized or enclosed in quotation marks. However, there are a few exceptions where titles are capitalized but are not italicized or enclosed in quotation marks. For example, series, scripture, law, acts, musical compositions identified by form, number, and key, etc. When the title is indicated by double quotation marks (title within a title), I learned to enclose the title in single quotation marks. Examples of these titles are poems and short stories. The...show more content... From this chapter I also learned how to quote from prose, poetry, and drama. In addition, this chapter discusses ellipsis points that are used to represent an omission from a direct quotation when it is cited by another writer. According to this chapter, the series of three dots ( . . . ) should be inserted where a word, phrase, sentence is left out. There may be some occasions when a writer need to alter a quote in order to prevent the audience from becoming confused. For examples, I can use "sic" to assure reader that the spelling error is present in the original source, and square brackets to comment or explain the ...Get more content on HelpWriting.Net...

  6. Grit Essay Examples Grit is a predictor of academic, professional, and personal success. Grit can be defined as strength of character or the ability to overcome failure and continue to work toward success. People with grit are not always the people with the most natural ability, but their work ethic and ability to overcome obstacles allows them to achieve success. Grit is a very valuable characteristic in almost any venture, as it gives someone an advantage in overcoming the inevitable obstacles they will face. However, grit is much easier adopted when an individual has a growth mindset. The first step to obtaining grit is to correlate both self–control and self–confidence when trying to reach an objective. By doing this, one can focus on the task at hand...show more content... I had no experience as a runner nor did I have the form. This did not phase me however. That year I promised myself to push through all the six mile runs, sore legs, gnarly blisters, and at times, lack of oxygen. At every meet and speed workout practice I pushed myself further and further. I set a goal every time I kicked off from the starting line and never let myself get discouraged when I failed. By my senior year, I was the fourth fastest runner on varsity. That year our varsity team won the district meet, which qualified us to run in the 2016 state meet in Oregon. The transformation over the years were evident. My determination to accomplish my goal of becoming a faster runner was complete. If I had simply just given up that first day of practice, I wouldn't have ran along side of the fastest runners in Oregon or have met the multitude of people that are now my closest friends. Having a goal sets one up for a challenge, whether it being physically or mentally, goals keep us active and thinking in more ways than one. Still, if someone has self–control, confidence, and a goal, they are still not complete. Growth mindset is the cone to an ice cream. It is the foundation of what I think a successful person is. Without it one couldn't use the characteristics mentioned above in more ways than one. Someone with a growth mindset believe that their most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work, brains and talent are just the starting point. ...Get more content on HelpWriting.Net...

  7. Essay On I Am Malala The book "I am Malala" tells the story of eleven year old girl that campaigned and fought for woman's rights and for the Taliban to allow them to go to school. Malala had an extremely tight nit family bond along with very supportive parents. She always had their support especially from her father Ziauddin. I believe that if I had a daughter so young that wanted to make such a big difference in her country I would stand by her one–hundred percent and push her to set out her dreams. That is exactly what her parents did, they always encouraged her to do whatever she put her mind to even now in present day. Malala at age fifteen was shot by a Taliban man, for standing up for woman's rights to go to school. If I was Malala's parents I would...show more content... "He even asked friends to throw dried fruits, sweets and coins into my cradle, something we usually only do for boys." (pg.14) Woman were treated very different from men in Swat but Malala wanted to put an end to that. Malala wanted to make a difference in how unequal woman's rights were, and she would go to all costs to make it happen in her country. Her father said since she was a baby that this child is special, and she was. If my child wanted to take a stand at eleven for woman's rights I would be shocked to say the least. I would've brushed it to the side and forgot about it. Malala had a very strong support base because I would not have let my child of eleven protest which she could have gotten killed for. Malala was brave, she even said she was not afraid to die. Most would have been more comfortable if she was "older" and "wiser". Which I think is a common misconception on young people. More seasoned people think that just because a child is young they cannot have a big voice or have an opinion on society because they have not experienced as many years on earth as them. Malala broke the mold and she protested what she felt was right, even though she ended up getting shot in the face for it. Was it worth it? I think it was worth it. In conclusion I support the fact that Malala's parents allowed her to fight for woman's rights, and to stand up for what she believed in. Malala's shooting affected people across the world and she was even nominated for ...Get more content on HelpWriting.Net...

  8. MLA Rough Draft 1. When writing, whether you paraphrase or directly quote someone else's ideas anywhere in your paper, you must document the use of those borrowed ideas with an internal citation notation. In MLA, there are two basic features of an internal citation. What are they? In–text citation – This is a parenthetical citation within the paper that refers the reader to a list of works cited. It commonly includes the author of the source and a page number, and punctuation separates the author's last name and the page number. Nor is the abbreviation p. (for "page") used. The period that ends the sentence appears after the closing parenthesis. 2. In MLA, if you work (include) the identity of the source into the sentence structure, where do page numbers...show more content... In MLA, how are the works cited entries organized on the Work(s) Cited page? ? Tell me how to arrange a works cited list on the page. No example required. ? Create a new page at the end of your paper for a "Works Cited" list. Center the words "Works Cited" at the top of the page. Double space after the title and begin entering citations. ? Entries are listed alphabetically by the last name of the author or by the first major word of the title if no author is given. If a source has more than one author, it is alphabetized by the last name of the author whose name appears first. The entries are not numbered. ? Entries are double–spaced. ? The first line of each entry begins at the left margin. If more than one line is needed to complete the entry, additional lines are indented five spaces or half an inch (this is called a hanging indent). 6. In MLA, if the source's identity is not worked into (written as part of) your sentence structure, how does the internal citation look the first time you create it? Use your last name and page number 123 to illustrate your answer. To correctly answer question 6, show me (don't tell me) how an internal citation looks the first time you cite it in your paper, using your name as the source and page number 123 to complete your response.
