Welfare dependence • Personal freedom to the absolute – escape from the dependency • Not about one particular social class -> politicians are bad leaders • Living in areas of social deprivation -> but not always the ones who are rioting • The riots could be traced back to a lack of male role models

  8. Weak policing • The police interfered to violently G20 • They are afraid of take on rioters • Rioters enjoy feeling powerfull • British justice= young people sent to prison

  10. Gangsta rap • According to Paul routed rap music has: Too much hatred in rap lyrics • Rap people tells people its good to be violent • Rappers brag about being in gangs • Many youngsters claim they listen but not act upon the music.

  11. Consumerism • They see an opportunity to get what they never had • “these are shopping riots, characterised by their consumer choices”

  12. Opportunism • Many blend in with the crowd • Many feel great when being in the groups • Many feel invulnerable

  13. Technology and social network • The youngsters organise through the social networks • Gangs and hooligans have used the same methods through many years • Cell phones and social networks can be used to counter attack these organisations.
