  10. Ingrid Betancourt She put her life at risk by speaking out against the status quo, and in 1994, won a seat in the House of Representatives. In the subsequent 1998 election, she received the highest vote total in Colombia, securing a place in the Senate.

  12. I had been kidnapped 1158 days… A video, delivered by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), and apparently filmed on May 15, 2002 was broadcasted. It is showing FARC captives Ingrid Betancourt and Clara Rojas, the first concrete evidence that the two women may still be alive. A second video was broadcasted in May 23, 2003.

This courageous and determined woman who sacrificed everything she had for her country, deserves our attention, like the thousands of persons currently kidnapped in Colombia. We need the media to talk about her and about Colombia. We need people to talk about her and get more informed about Colombia.
