BUS RIDE EXPERIENCE BUS RIDE EXPERIENCE AT SUMMER CAMP AT SUMMER CAMP Summer camp is full of experiences that teach kids independence and provide a sense of camaraderie and the best way to kick off the fun is with a bus ride that is unlike any other. From the moment kids board the camp bus, they are met with warm welcomes and exciting activities that build excitement for what lies ahead. As you watch your kid climb those steps, here are just a few things they’ll experience on their ride to camp. ICEBREAKERS When kids board the bus, members of the camp staff greet them each by name as they head to their seat. In the beginning of the season, staff members plan fun icebreakers to help kids get to know each other. For example, they may play the Name Game where each child has to say their name along with all of the names of the kids sitting in front of them. As the summer goes by, challenges are added such as saying a fruit that starts with the same letter instead of the name. SONGS AND CHANTS As the wheels on the bus turn “round and round”, songs are added to the mix. Every kid loves singing their favorite camp song as well as some old classics like “On Top of Old Smokey”. Songs are such a big part of the bus ride that the singing is often heard by the people waiting at camp before the bus makes its arrival.

2. FRIENDLY COMPETITIONS Parents are often surprised by just how many games can be played on a bus. Chant competitions get everyone involved by seeing which row can be the loudest. Campers also love playing Pass the Shoe where they have to move a shoe from the front of the bus to the last row faster than the team sitting on the other side of the bus. Classic road games are also a hit. I Spy, BINGO and scavenger hunts are some more ways camp staff keeps the kids engaged. When you watch your kid board the bus to summer camp, you can be sure that they are in for the experience of a lifetime.
