  3. Analysis of Education Calendar • Evaluation essential clinical needs vs aspirational delivery • Delivery vs resources • Quality of Delivery • Ensured Clinical skills teaching remained a priority • Liased with appropriate stakeholders re developments

Department Function & Staff Remit • 12/04-2WTE Lecturing staff & 2 secretaries with vacancies • Spring 05 appointed Grade 4 Trudy Clark, administrator & additional member of lecturing staff-Chris Ronayne • Administrator organises speakers and oversees inductions programme • RE-organised nomination process e.g Induction nominations taken at GGH • Met with Bank Staff to estimate projected requirement • Recruited additional secretary 0.5 09/05 Advanced practice/0.5 department • Monthly Team meetings

  5. Benchmarking of Existing Programmes • Existing Programmes with other divisions at local & national level including SGD • Induction revamped additional sessions added, practical CPR sessions for trained/untrained

Good Practice -Support mechanism For candidates -Good ratio for drug calculations -Peer teaching review -E-learning developments Recommendations -Reading Materials Update -Consider Formalising feedback on observed practice -Formalising drug calculation assessment -Including other professional groups NES Accreditation IV Drugs & Venepuncture & Cannulation

Working Party IV Drugs & Venepuncture/Cannulation • Short-term working party Sept-Dec 05 • Broad clinical representation • 4 meetings • Basing review on NES recommendations • Challenge • Meetings with pharmacy, phlebotomy service, ICT,RTO’s, H&S, Clinical Risk Manager • Induction of testing in IV Drugs from 01/06

  8. Next Phase • Audit practice in relation to cannulation • Revamp current website Information • Apply framework to develop programmes for other clinical skills • Engage more practitioners in delivery • NHSGG re-organisation • CPD & Education Philosophy
