The Governor’s Developmental Disability Council focuses on delivering quality career and employment services to Iowans with disabilities. Since 1998, the mission has been to increase employment outcomes through state and local collaboration, improving communication and reducing service duplication. Led by C.R. Petersen, the initiative emphasizes building community partnerships that foster trust and share information, transitioning from competitive practices to collaborative efforts. This approach aims to ensure that Iowans with disabilities are effectively included in the workforce and benefit from improved services and outcomes.
