Success Criteria • I can identify wide, long, medium, close-up and extreme close-up shots. • I can understand the importance of having a variety of camera angles. • I can begin to add a variety of shots and camera angles to our storyboards.

  4. Types of Shots and Camera Angles Types of Shot A camera shot is the amount of space that is seen in one shot or frame.

  5. Types of Shots and Camera Angles Types of Shot There are 5 main types of shot • Wide shot • Long shot • Mid shot • Close up • Extreme Close up Different types of shot can add interest to a film and add to the narrative of your story.

  6. Types of Shots and Camera Angles Wide Shot A shot taken from far away. Use this shot to establish the setting at the beginning of a film or scene.

  7. Types of Shots and Camera Angles Long Shot A shot showing more of the setting. It should include a whole person, from head to foot.

  8. Types of Shots and Camera Angles Mid Shot A closer shot to let you see what a person is doing. It should include a person’s head, shoulders and midriff.

  9. Types of Shots and Camera Angles Close-Up A shot showing just part of a subject. Use this shot to show emotions or reactions on a person’s face.

  21. Types of Shots and Camera Angles Camera Angles There are 5 main camera angles • High angle • Eye level • Low angle • Reverse angle • Oblique angle The angles from which a shot is taken is another way to add variety to a film as well as provide information.

  23. Types of Shots and Camera Angles Eye Level An angle which is neutral. The camera is positioned as though it is a human looking at a scene.

  24. Types of Shots and Camera Angles Low Angle An angle which looks up at the subject making them look powerful or important.

  25. Types of Shots and Camera Angles Reverse Angle An angle showing what the subject is seeing. This is also known as a point of view angle.
