A World of Possibilities • Wood County Ohio to Kimchon Korea! • US, Mexico, Canada, Netherlands, UK, Spain, France, Belgium, Germany, India, Brazil, Korea, Japan, China, Austria, & Turkey • Civil Engineering to Global Sourcing! • Concrete Canoes to Wind Energy and Global Warming Solutions! • Mentor once said, “Keep the Box (of Possibilities) Wide Open! • Your degree and Engineering knowledge are just the “foundation”. • It is not your degree…it is what you do with it!

Take Ownership of your Career • Role Models • Mr. Huber (Owens Tech) • Dr. Don Angelbeck – UT • Dr. Colony - UT • Sheree Bargabos – First Female Plt Mgr at OC, now Pres of Rfg • Dave Brown – CEO OC • “B” Shift Team Leader in Denver Roofing • Mentors / Network • Internal / External (I have a new mentor) • Formal / Informal • Touchbase / Network • Reach out, stay in touch • Have a Plan • Know where you are going and how to get there. And when! • Your career is not Human Resource’s responsibility It is yours!

Tough choices. • Work thru college (Dr. Angelbeck) • Get out of my major • Relocate • Job Changes suggested by company • Marriage • Have a family • Career on hold • Dual career • More education • Elder Care • Just know that you HAVE choices. • No one can really make you do anything you don’t want to! • Deb’s philosophy…if it isn’t life threatening…it is do-able!

Stay On Top of Your Game • It is a Competitive World! • Know how to market yourself…even now! • Start with that resume….action words…results…examples • Stand for Results…they are hard to dispute • Stay Marketable • Interview internally and externally • What does it take to compete • Be a “Learner” • Continue your education along the way (any age) • Formal / Informal; Masters, PE, Six Sigma Greenbelt, CPM, Lean, etc • Don’t be afraid to “step out” of your comfort zone

  10. Have Fun! • Have Passion for what you do… • Enjoy going to work. Make work fun. • Make it fun for those around you! • Create the atmosphere you want to be in! • Float Fridays • Mudhen’s • Birthday’s • Service Anniversaries • Celebrate the smallest of successes! • Recognize the efforts of others!

Reach for the Stars • Do not limit your thinking. • Do not let others limit your thinking! • Athena Award – Women’s Chamber of Commerce • First Female Pilot • Hispanic Software Services Provider • Plant Manager • Take your daughter to lunch day in Denver • Judge, Teacher, Forklift Driver, Policeman, Engineer, HR, Fireman, Lawyer, Pilot, Doctor, etc • I was so inspired! • If you can dream it…you can be it!
