  3. Grading-see point log sheet • Tests and quizzes 70% of grade • Homework 15% • Labs 15%

  4. Tests and quizzes • 2 or 3 tests a Q • 3 quizzes a Q • Departmentalized midterm and final • Review sheets before test • Basic list…they need to make it their own • I will teach study skills!

  5. HW • HW 2-3 times a week Therefore…….no late assignments are accepted. • On my HW/web page • Also on the board every day!! • On the Mellow yellow Bulletin Board too-outside my room {all of team has too}

  6. Labs • Usually will have several days to complete lab portion and a few days to answer questions at home • They have assigned lab groups..will change lab groups each quarter

  7. Class Notes and Handouts • Copies of my notes are in the binder in my class room • Copies of all handouts in back of room-sign says extra copies

  8. Extra help • Check website for “official” times • I welcome and encourage students to come during lunch and/or recess to ask questions, finish labs and/or study. • After school I am usually here until 3:45 and I would welcome questions then too • Have child email me if they want to make a scheduled time

  9. Partnership • Balance parenting and child’s need for independence. They still need you!! Call Ms. Zelman 767 5545 for PTC • Be careful of APR (if child has an Alternate Perception of Reality) • Stay on top but not too much • When in doubt, check it out. Call or email even if small issue/question. • If mad---don’t email

Accelerated Science in 8th grade In order to be considered for this High School course, the science department will look at the following grades for quarters 1,2 and 3: • Science,, English, Social Studies, Foreign Language In addition, we look at the grade on the screening test that is given by the department in the spring Must have an 80% average to be invited in
