PROPOSAL OF THE OAS TO SUPPORT THE INTER-AMERICAN CONFERENCE OF MINISTERS OF LABOUR

This proposal by the Organization of American States (OAS) aims to support the Inter-American Conference of Ministers of Labour (IACML) by strengthening the working groups, promoting joint meetings and seminars, conducting research and studies, and enhancing horizontal cooperation. It also suggests increasing interaction through technology and implementing an Inter-American Cooperation Mechanism for Professional Labour Administration. The means to implement this proposal include an OAS subfund and inter-agency cooperation with organizations such as the ILO, PAHO, ECLAC, IDB, World Bank, UNDP, CDB, CAF, and CABEI, as well as the support of Member States, COSATE, and CEATAL.

PROPOSAL OF THE OAS TO SUPPORT THE IACML • Strengthening the Working Groups • Horizontal Cooperation • Increasing Interaction through Technology • Support consensus proposals of the Conference • Feasibility study on an Inter-American Cooperation Mechanism for Professional Labour Administration: • Directed by the past, present and future Chairs pro tempore. • Consulted with the Chairs and Vice-Chairs of the Working Groups. • Conducted by recognized experts in the field. • Administered by the Unit for Social Development and Education of the OAS.

PROPOSAL OF THE OAS TO SUPPORT THE IACML Means to implement this proposal • OAS subfund –To support the mandates of the Conference. • Inter-agency cooperation, coordination and co-financing • Organization of American States (OAS), • International Labor Organization (ILO), • Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), • Economic Commission on Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), • Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), • World Bank • United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), • Caribbean Development Bank (CDB), • Corporación Andina de Fomento (CAF), • Central American Bank of Economic Integration (CABEI), and others. • Political, financial, and intellectual support of Member States, COSATE and CEATAL to the goals of the XIII Conference
