DIN is an unique Director identification number allotted by the Central Government to the existing director of a company or any person intending to be a Director. • It is an 8-digit unique identification number which is valid till lifetime. Through DIN, details of the directors are maintained in a database. • DIN is specific to a person, which means even if he is a director in 2 or more companies, he only needs to have 1 DIN. And if he leaves a company and joins some other, the same DIN would work in the other company as well. • DIN is used when a return, an application or any information related to a company will be submitted under any law, the director signing such return, application or information will mention his DIN underneath his signature.   4. There is no procedure till now for the MCA to make a Disqualified Director, a Director again before the end of the 5 year period. But, all collaborators are still waiting for the MCA to disclose and declare a process to remove the disqualification. • Elimination of a director is not always the easiest process but it is at times mandatory to protect the company’s interests. The important thing to keep in mind for the shareholders as well as directors to remember when trying to disqualify a director, is that they are handling a person, and thus, there is always the possibility of a conflict. • It can be said that is no remedy feasible as per the Companies Act, 2013, but, a Writ Petition can be made by the grieving director under Article 226 of our Constitution in the awol of any backup cure accessible. The Central government may cancel the DIN due to the following reasons: • If a duplicate DIN has been issued to the director • DIN was obtained by fraudulent means • On the death of the concerned person • The person has been declared unsound mind by the court • The person has been adjudicated as insolvent Reasons for Surrendering or cancelling the DIN?
