  1. WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF MUNICIPAL STORMWATER MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE? Stormwater management, as defined by the US Environmental Protection Agency, is the process of limiting rainwater or melted snow flow into streets, lawns, and other areas while simultaneously enhancing water quality (EPA). When stormwater is absorbed into the soil, it is filtered and ultimately recharges aquifers or flows into streams and rivers. However, when heavy rains occur, the saturated ground generates excess fluid, which spills over the surface and into storm drains and road ditches. This water often carries debris, chemicals, bacteria, eroded soil, and other contaminants into streams, rivers, lakes, and wetlands. Thus, what function does municipal stormwater management software play in this? In urban and urbanised areas, impervious surfaces like as pavement and roofs prevent rainfall from naturally soaking into

  2. the ground. Rather than that, water rushes into storm drains, sewage systems, and drainage ditches, resulting in flooding, erosion, turbidity (or muddiness), and overflowing storm and sanitary sewer systems, as well as structural damage. On the other side, stormwater management and "green infrastructure" collect and use stormwater in order to conserve or restore natural hydrologies. Stormwater management is mainly concerned with retaining and removing pollutants from stormwater. Stormwater management strategies include porous surfaces that allow rain and snowmelt to percolate into the soil, grey infrastructure such as culverts, gutters, storm sewers, and typical piped drainage, and blue/green infrastructure that preserves, restores, or replicates the natural water cycle.
