What is SBIR and STTR • Small Business Innovation Research • Allows subcontracting up to 1/3 of the work • Small Business Technology Transfer • Requires SBC 40% and nonprofit research institution 30% • a highly competitive program that encourages domestic small businesses to engage in Federal Research and Development (R&D) that has the potential for commercialization
SBIR & STTR • Stimulate technological innovation • Meet Federal research and development needs • Foster and encourage participation in innovation and entrepreneurship by socially and economically disadvantaged persons • Increase private-sector commercialization of innovations derived from Federal research and development funding
