  2. Questions Tags Question tags are short question at the end of statement , and formed with the auxiliary/modal verb from the statement and the appropriate subject.

  3. Positive statement is followed by a negative question tags. Examples : Jack is from Spain, isn’t he ? She is a nurse, isn’t she ? The dogs are very fierce, aren’t they? If the verb is in the Present Tense, so we use question tags with Don’t/doesn’t. Examples : They always get up early, don’t you ? Alison likes tennis, doesn’t she ?

  4. If the verb is in the Past Simple, we use question tags with “didn’t” Examples : • She visited my sister yesterday, didn’t she ? • They went to the cinema last night, didn’t they ?

  5. If the statement uses “verb modal”,so the question tags use “modal+not” Examples : • You and I must come there soon, mustn’t we? • The children will do their homework, won’t they?

  6. The forms of exception question tags • If the subject is nothing, something, everthing. So, we use “it” in the question tags Examples : • Something is found there now. Isn’t it ? • Everthing is okay, isn’t it? • Nothing is cheap in big cities, isn’t it?

  7. If the subject is nobody , somebody , everybody ,no one, someone or everyone, we use “they” in the question tags Examples : • Everyone studied hard, didn’t they ? • Somebody visits her every Sunday, don’t they? • Nobody is living in the old house now, are they?

  8. Negative Statement is followed by positive question tags Examples : • They aren’t funny, are they ? • He shouldn’t say things like that, should he ? • We didn’t leave, did we ? • You won’t go without me, will you ?
