What Is Isolationism? • A policy of remaining apart from the affairs or interests of other groups, especially the political affairs of other countries.
America in the 1930s • People think WWI was fought to make money for bankers and arms dealers • Wants to avoid another war (116,000 KIA) • America First: Organization whose goal it is to keep the U.S. out of foreign wars • Congress passes Neutrality Acts • U.S. won’t sell weapons or give loans to countries at war
Your Assignment…… • Create your own political cartoon related to Isolationism (keeping the U.S. out of Europe’s war) • You are making a political cartoon that encourages Isolationist ideas like the previous cartoons we’ve examined • Requirements: • 1.
