The Cheetah: Fastest Land Animal Facing Extinction
Cheetahs, known for their incredible speed of up to 70mph, are tan with distinctive black spots. They stand 2.5 to 3 feet tall at the shoulders and measure between 44 to 53 inches in length, weighing between 110 to 140 pounds. Their diet includes gazelles, wildebeest calves, and other small hoofed animals. Unfortunately, habitat destruction, human conflict, and predation on cubs threaten their survival. Conservation efforts like the Endangered Species Act aim to protect cheetahs and their habitats in regions from South America to India and in parts of Iran.
