  2. Who are we? • Non-profit making organisation (ETAPE Consortium) • ESMU – European centre for the strategic management of universities • ACA – Academic cooperation association • Education & Training (Socrates + Leonardo) • Youth

  3. What do we do? • Preparing and disseminating documentation and information • Processing project proposals • Preparing agreements for promoters operating on a centralised level • Monitoring and following-up projects during their execution

  4. What do we do?(2) • Pre-processing interim and final project reports • Additional activities to facilitate the running of both the programmes and individual projects - such as the compilation and maintenance of computer data and statistics, information for the public, the hosting of meetings & events and other general administrative support

  6. Which countries are involved? • 15 Member States of the EU • 3 EFTA/EEA countries • 10 Associated Countries of Central and Eastern Europe • Cyprus, Malta • Turkey (from 2004/2005)

Who is eligible? • Pupils in compulsory schooling, students and people of all ages going back into education • Teachers in training or in sevice, education, administrative and managerial staff • Education establishments of all types • Public servants, decision makers, local and regional authorities, parents, associations, social partners, business sector, NGOs…

  8. Who manages the programme? • Centralised actionsDecentralised actions • European Commision – DG Education and Culture • Technical Assistance Office • National Agencies

  9. Socrates Actions • Comenius: School Education • Erasmus: Higher Education • Grundtvig: Adult education and other educational pathways • Lingua: Learning and teaching of European Languages • Minerva: Information and communication technologies in education

What activities are supported? • Transnational Mobility for people in the sphere of education in Europe • Pilot Projects based on transnational partnerships designed to stimulate innovation and quality in education • Promote language skills and understanding of different cultures • Use of information and communications technologies in education

  12. Transnational co-operation networks which facilitate exchange of experience and best practice • Observation and comparative analysis of education systems and teaching policies • Activities designed to exchange information, disseminate best practice and foster innovation
