Successful GEF Project?

The GEF project for Sustainable Island Resource Management (SIRM) commenced in January 2008, following a comprehensive planning phase that began in 2005. This innovative project aims to ensure easy access to environmental management information for stakeholders, establishing a robust SIRM plan backed by necessary policy and institutional reforms. It focuses on assessing success through defined targets and indicators, addressing biodiversity status, and evaluating the project's impact through policy interventions. With ongoing monitoring programs and public awareness campaigns, the initiative serves as a model for other Small Island Developing States (SIDS).

SIRMM Project Structure • EASY AND RELIABLE ACCESS TO INFORMATION FOR ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT BY ALL STAKEHOLDERS • A SUSTAINABLE ISLAND RESOURCE MANAGEMENT PLAN DEVELOPED AND IN PLACE • POLICY AND INSTUTIONAL REFORMS PROVIDE FOR IMPLIMENTATION OF THE SIRM PLAN • REQUIREMENTS FOR IMPLIMENTATION OF THE SIRM PLAN IN PLACE, AS WELL AS MECHANISM FOR CAPTURE OF LESSONS AND BEST PRACTICES Demonstrating the Implementation of a Sustainable Island Resource Management Mechanism
